The fight against corruption has been a national call in a bid to move the country developmental agenda.

 Following that called, the President for the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists Kelvin Lewis also called on the Anti-Corruption Commission to empower whistle blowers which will motivate them in unearthing corrupt individuals.

Kelvin Lewis furthered “in our newspapers, television stations and our radio stations, we actually find out about corruption stories and report on them but as we do that there are couple of challenges we face along the line and the next thing that we do is to raise issue about corruption and create public awareness about corruption.”

He mentioned that journalists are working in collaboration with ACC to fight against the menace of corruption in our society and that the awareness raising among people has been the responsibility of journalists through the course of fighting corruption.

Commissioner for the Anti-Corruption Commission, Ady Macauley called on Civil Society Organizations and the media to effectively collaborate with the commission in the fight against corruption. He made it cleared that it takes collective effort to mitigate corruption in a country.

Ady Macauley stated that the commission had been collaborating with Civil Society Organizations and the media in the fight against corruption and that he was looking forward for that relationship to substantial in the future, adding that he was pleased to interact with CSO and the media.

He reiterated that the fight against corruption could not be meaningless if there has not been that synergy among the three respective institutions and pointed out that the fight happened to be one that could be won by just a single group but with the inclusion of everyone.

He confirmed that there have been an amount of success in the PNB campaign and that the commission was looking forward for more improvement, he further stated that they are working towards establishing a CCTV cameras at certain institution such as the quay and strategic traffic position in the country, and according to him that might warrant people to refrain from such societal ills
