Bereaved families receiving funeral purse of Le100M

The special funeral service for the late police officers who were killed during the Wednesday 10th August, 2022 insurrection in some parts of the country will take place today Tuesday 23rd August, 2022 at the Police Training School (PTS) at Hastings on the outskirts of Freetown.

This was according to the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh who assured the bereaved families that government would be given all the late police officers befitting civic burial and that all expenses for the burial would be taken care of by the government.

In addition, he said a funeral purse of Le100 million would be given to each bereaved family to take care of their family affairs since their loved ones were the breadwinners.

Similarly, Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Internal Affairs yesterday 22nd August, 2022 allowed family members to identify corpses of those killed during the insurrection. Family members assembled at the Mortuary of the Connaught hospital at identify their love lost ones.

Following the insurrection, by certain individuals, resulting in the loss of lives of both civilians and police officers in some parts of the country, the ministry informed civilians who lost their lives during the riot to go to the Connaught hospital Mortuary in Freetown to identify the corpses of their family members for post-mortem.

The family members went along with identification documents bearing details of their deceased relatives for clarification.
