Leader of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) in the Sierra Leone Parliament, Honourable Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella has landed in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates ahead of the 13th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) scheduled for tomorrow 13th – 15th January 2023.

This year’s edition will be hosted under the theme: ‘World Energy Transition – The Global Stocktake’.

IRENA is noted as a lead global intergovernmental agency for energy transformation that serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, supports countries in their energy transitions, and provides state of the art data and analyses on technology, innovation, policy, finance and investment.

Honourable Yumkella is expected to join Heads of State/Government, ministers and energy decision-makers as well as multilateral organisations, global stakeholders and private actors to take stock of operational plans and policies and highlight the concerted action undertaken to implement the energy transition across countries, regions, and the world.

On the margins of the IRENA Assembly, Hon. Yumkella yesterday paid a courtesy visit on the Sierra Leone Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, where he was received in courtesy by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador Rashid Sesay.

They both discussed several issues relating to the growth and development of Sierra Leone.
