The All Political Parties Association (APPA) has congratulated the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL) and the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed K. Konneh for conducting a free, fair and credible elections in June this year.

Chairman of APPA, Prince Koker said APPA took part in the elections, adding that the Association decided to visit the Commission to present its assessment on the outcome of the elections.

He said the Association was part of the initial process of planning and strategising of the electoral process and that all decisions were taken at the Political Party Liaison Committee (PPLC) meetings, to which all political parties were present.

The APPA Chairman said they deployed lots of party agents to work and observe the elections and that all of them were accredited by the EC-SL.

He said: “We congratulate the EC-SL for conducting a free, fair and credible elections. We have also commended the Political Party Regulation Commission (PPRC), for their leadership throughout the electioneering process, and the security sector for providing security for political parties throughout.”

Chief Electoral Commissioner (CEC), Mohamed K. Konneh thanked APPA for their trust in the Commission, while calling on other political parties to emulate same.

He said they do not expect everyone to be happy with the outcome of the elections, but however noted that the majority are happy which shows a complete success.

Commissioner Konneh said: “We made a promise to conduct elections in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. There is no court case so far which explains that all processes and laws regarding the electioneering processes were duly followed. We made sure the results were released on record breaking time thereby reducing false information and results.”

He congratulated APPA for believing in the EC-SL, while encouraging all political parties to look at lessons learnt and find ways and means to improve on them.
