Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Senegal, His Excellency Alhaji Brima Elvis Koroma has discussed President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s ‘Feed Salone’ agricultural priority to with the Portuguese Ambassador to Dakar, Florbella Paraiba.

Briefing her counterpart during a reciprocal courtesy visit on her, Ambassador Koroma explained about President Bio’s ‘Big Five Game Changers’ as he starts his second term in office. He mentioned that during the first term of President Bio, he made education and human capital development as his flagship programme. That is in full gear, and now we have over 2.5 million children in school catered for by government,” he told her counterpart.

While selling the agricultural programme as President Bio’s second term flagship, H.E Brima Koroma also explained the other four priorities areas being; human capital development, youth empowerment, public sector transformation, technology, and infrastructure.

“With these, and especially with agriculture, Sierra Leone needs partnership and investment in agriculture. We have the investment climate that is favourable, the fertile land to till and a favourable climate.”

The Portuguese Ambassador Florbella Paraiba commended Sierra Leone for the strides made over the years, especially coming from a traumatic past like Liberia. “The kind of change that was seen in Sierra Leone in the last few years was encouraging and should continue in that direction,” she said.

The Portuguese Ambassador was happy for Sierra Leone to have such a national plan and put emphasis on education, technology, and digitization.

She expressed belief in the transfer of knowledge and technology through investment as the Portuguese companies operating in Senegal respect the local content law in terms of employment.

The two also spoke about reciprocity at the United Nations as Sierra Leone takes a seat in the non-permanent category at the Security Council, while Portugal hopes to be a candidate in a few years’ time.
