President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire, Ambassador Anthony Navo Jr. took to twitter to express his appreciation for Drizilik’s performance at the DRIZILIK’s BET CYPHER.

Amb. Navo Jr. tweeted: “Proud of our own Drizilik- from Sierra Leone to the world. Thank you for representing us! Cheers!”

Drizilik, whose real name is Benjamin Menelik George, was one of the performers at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher. The event was held on October 13, 2023, and featured an array of international talent.

Drizilik’s performance was particularly noteworthy as he brought a distinct African essence to the event. His verses were rich in Sierra Leonean culture and pride. His lyrics, with lines such as “Diamond in the flesh, Salone in your face” and “Dis na Krio, no to pidgin nor mistake am,” resonated with fans and served as a bold testament to his Sierra Leonean heritage.

Through his performance, Drizilik expressed an ardent wish for the world to appreciate and recognise Sierra Leone’s native “Krio” language.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards is an annual event that celebrates the monumental contributions of hip-hop artists, producers, and video directors to the music industry. This year’s awards hold special significance as they mark the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, honoring exceptional black artists from around the globe.
