The Chairman of the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), Emmanuel Koivaya Amara, has confirmed that the suspended All People’s Congress (APC) Party has paid its outstanding fines in full.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr. Amara disclosed that the Commission has received full payment from the main opposition party, clearing the way for the lifting of its suspension.

“The APC has paid its fines in full. The lifting of the Party’s suspension will soon be communicated,” the PPRC Chairman stated.

The APC was yesterday suspended by the Commission over unpaid fines imposed following a statement made by the party’s Secretary-General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq., during a public gathering. The PPRC had cited provisions under Section 39(1) of the Political Parties Act, 2022, in justifying its decision.

The suspension triggered intense public debate, with legal analysts and political commentators weighing in on its potential implications for the party’s parliamentary and local council representatives.

With the fines now settled, attention shifts to the formal communication from the PPRC confirming the reinstatement of the party’s full operational status.

Political observers say the development may help ease tensions and restore stability within the country’s political space.
