The staff, who were subjected to the violent attack, were on assignment to cover the police visit to the residence of the current National Chairman and Leader of the opposition party, Ernest Bai Koroma yesterday.

According to the AYV Empire’s Northern Bureau Chief, Amadu Kamara, five of his staff, Augusta Turay, Theresa Wende Sesay, Abass Sesay and two cameramen were severely manhandled while doing their professional duty.

Despite final decision was not reached by the current management of the AYV on its reaction to the unruly act perpetrated on the poor journalists by the APC rebels on to press time last night, it is widely anticipated that legal action, news blackout against the APC, amongst other actions might be the reactions of the AYV management.

Meanwhile, other AYV journalists who spoke to this writer last evening expressed dismay over what they described as; “the lackadaisical manner in which the management of AYV has been treating the crude attitude of these APC loyalists against AYV staff, especially before, during and after the 2018 elections.”

Some say they are even afraid for their lives as they seemed not to be protected by their management even after repeated attacks on them by cheap politicians.

It can be recalled that AYV reporters were on several occasions before and during the electoral process, repeatedly attacked, beaten and barbarically manhandled by members, supporters and loyalists of the APC party at their party headquarters and across the country.

However, it is their hope that the AYV management will this time round stand firm on their side and put a total stop to these repeated APC rebels barbaric attacks on their journalists.

Managing Director of AYV, Dr. Ezekiel K. Duramany-Lakkoh who spoke to this reporter last night said his management will ensure that the APC Makeni barbarism on his staff will be the very last and final attack on AYV staff.

As head of management, Dr. Duramany-Lakkoh called on his staff nationwide to stay calm, keep the peace and look forward to his management’s next step against these attackers.
