At Southern Arena 6,000-seater stadium opening in Bo… E.E Lions beats host Bo Rangers 1-0 to claim champions’ title

Thousands of Sierra Leoneans gathered on Sunday 21st May, 2023 for the official inauguration of the 6,000-seater Southern Arena Stadium in Bo city.

Owner of the Southern Arena, Babadi Kamara said the essence of the Arena which is a source of pride personally and nationally can help to restore its footballing image.

In the inaugural match at the Arena, the Champions, East End Lions De Killers defeated host side, Bo Rangers 1-0 after their new signing Ibrahim S. Conteh scored the only goal to earn the Killers the prestigious trophy.

East End Lions Chairman, Ambassador Anthony Navo Jr. commended the team for the historic win and as well as the massive work done by the Chairman of Bo Rangers Babadi Kamara in transforming the game wholeheartedly.

Ambassador Navo Jr. said: “What a great opening of the Southern Arena! What a fantastic performance!

“Congratulations to our great East End Lions (E.E Lions) on winning the 2023 SOUTHERN ARENA GALA COMPETITION.

“As Chairman of this great Club, I feel very proud and honoured. Huge congratulations to the entire E.E Lions squad on the impressive 1-0 victory over host, Bo Rangers.

“This victory is a testament of our determination, hard work and competitive spirit as champions. A champion is always a champion. This win is truly well-deserved and we are all so proud of our great team.

“Many thanks to our players, Management, our dedicated fans and supporters.

“To the host – Bo Rangers! Your hospitality and sportsmanship were truly inspiring, and you made us all happy and proud.

“Thank you for hosting us in your beautiful new Southern Arena Stadium. Many thanks to my brother, Bo Rangers Chairman Babadi Kamara. Together, everyone achieves more. Once again, congratulations to our beloved E.E Lions. Continue to believe in us – E.E Lions. We are the killers”.

The unveiling was graced by key dignitaries in the Sporting sector as a way to mark a giant leap forward in the country’s football development projections.
