This in no doubt has confirmed the position that Africell is the leading telecommunications company in Sierra Leone and a company that is known for its firsts and number one for all the right reasons in the country’s telecommunications industry.

With Africell, Bo city like another part of the country has experienced a steady growth playing host to a number of institutions, including the prestigious Njala University Bo Campus.

Like showers of blessings on a sunny day, the company rained on the city and rolled out its 4G internet service to subscribers as part of its drive to take telecommunications to every nuke and cranny in Sierra Leone.

The roll out includes, swapping of existing africell Sim to 4G Sims and verification or confirmation that the subscriber handset is 4G compatible – 4G technology is such the subscriber MUST have a handset that is in conformity with the technology to access the service.

It can be recalled that in January this year, the company did a technical launch in Freetown to announce the commencement of the 4G service in Sierra Leone.

The roll out also entails a promotional offer of the 4G Mifi package which costs Le 250,000 plus 5 Gigabytes of data. Sims swapped also contains 1GB as complementary data from africell.

Receiving his 4G Sim from africell, the first gentleman of Bo city Mayor Harold Tucker, thanked africell for bringing him onboard the 4G highway. He said: “Bo city has been and will always remain opened to africell”

Mariama a student at Njala Bo Campus who successfully swapped her Sim said: “I had my doubts about the use of the technology in the past. But having listened to the details of the how technology works, I am now convinced it will enhance my data and digital experience.”

Abu Munu an Information Technology student in Bo also recounted his experience. “It is the true embodiment of high speed internet. With this I can research effectively and submit assignments on time. One thing I like about the 4G service is, the comfort and ease with which browsing is done. It doesn’t buffer, therefore it save you us time” he stated.

Sim swaps were done at banks, supermarkets and campuses among other places.

Africell started the internet revolution in Sierra Leone as the FIRST Company to introduce subscribers to data usage by launching the 3G service with free access for a WHOLE year. Africell is again bridging the gap by introducing subscribers the 4GLTE environment which will increase learning and discovery.
