Addressing media practitioners at a well attended press conference held on Monday 11 July 2017, Carl Executive Director, Ibrahim Tommy disclosed that it is about time women in Sierra Leone enjoyed their social, economic and political rights, and for them to take active part in the socio-cultural, political and economic development of Sierra Leone.

He noted that his institution conducted research country wide with the cardinal objective of identifying several obstacles, depriving women in Sierra Leone and for them to be considered not only significant, but also indispensable to the overall development of their motherland.

Ibrahim Tommy reminded his audience that Carl had established offices in the provinces with sufficient staff to monitor and comprehensively collate several issues bothering on how  women should be dignified , encouraged, respected and placed in positions of trust, and for the government to create more opportunity for the emancipation of  women rights in Sierra Leone.

According to him, his entity was working in close collaboration with its development partners, and they had conducted research in eight chiefdoms, stating that his institution was very keen to several human rights abuses against women in the country.

He maintained that creating more opportunity for women was very significant, and it was undone to ostracized or discouraged women in taking active role in decision making process of their country, adding that Centre for Accountability and Rule of Law would leave no stone unturned in  promoting  the rights of women and children country-wide.

Ibrahim Tommy canvassed government, national and internationals institutions across the country and beyond to complement his institution’s gigantic strides and irreversible posture for women to enjoy their constitutional and human rights.

My institution, he said would never relent in conducting research on various issues bothering on human right issues, and most importantly how they could be elevated in state positions, and to further prepared a favorable platform for their effective participation in the overall development of their communities, chiefdoms, districts and the country in general.
