At the Annual Remembrance Day Service in Freetown on Sunday, Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengehunderscored the significance of political unity among Sierra Leonean leaders.
At the event, Dr. Sengeh remarked in a social media statement that the nation’s political leadership avoids engaging in physical or verbal confrontations, prioritising constructive discussions on governance matters.
He highlighted his placement alongside Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr during the event, stressing that collaboration between leaders is essential for achieving national development objectives.
During the service, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr laid a commemorative wreath in tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for Sierra Leone’s freedom. She also unveiled the design for a new memorial, commissioned by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, which will be installed adjacent to the cenotaph.
The solemn occasion gathered national leaders, members of the diplomatic community, military personnel, and citizens to honor the sacrifices made in World Wars I and II, the Civil War, and other conflicts.
