The Romende Chiefdom Speaker, Zackaria Kanu expressed shock and disbelief that certain self-styled activists are using their names to for a hidden agenda.

He disclosed that the village and chiefdom in general are comfortable with the arrangements between them and the company, noting that rent money including surface rent and land lease is going to the appropriate community authorities.

The Village Headman, Pa Osman Kargbo was elated over the company’s adherence to its corporate social responsibility, including the ongoing construction of a school.

He is unhappy that certain people are claiming to represent the interest of the village when the fact remains that they have never met with such individuals.

“We call on the authorities to arrest such people for deception and propagating lies”, the chief demanded.

Ibrahim Kargbo, the village youth leader, assured the public that they will not allow anyone to incite them against a company that continues to provide employment and make prompt payments of rent to land-owners and local authorities.

The chiefdom speaker disclosed that with the exception of one Francis Kanu, the whole village and chiefdom are unanimously satisfied with the arrangement made with them by Shandong and its contractors.

The AYV TV has screened video interviews where the chiefdom speaker displayed documents signed by all four families in the village agreeing on the rent payment for the land being used by a Shandong contractor known as China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC).

“The Kamara, Kanu and Kargbo are all happy with the arrangement with the exception of an individual in the Kanu family who decided to take the company to court for his selfish interest,” Pa Kanu explained.

Similar sentiments were expressed by Momoh Kamara representing the Kamara family, Abdulai Kargbo of the Kargbo family and Mohamed S. Kanu, a representative of the Kanu family.

Section Chief Pa Alimamy Turay and Paramount Chief Adikalie Koroma equally re-echoed the fact that the relationship between the chiefdom and Shandong remains cordial as the company continues to meet its obligations accordingly.
