The Leader of Government Business Hon. Sidie Tunis also commended the Chinese for their unflinching support, saying China remains one of the best partners to Sierra Leone.

“In the last six months, we have seen the great things China has done for Sierra Leone. We saw our President welcomed in China when he visited the country to attend the FOCAC summit. They gave us almost $40 million and also they have given us 30 garbage trucks, which the people of Sierra Leone will benefit from. And, they even gave us $1.5 million USD to build the Lumley Bridge” Hon. Sidie Tunis said, adding that what he has seen in the new Parliament building gives him hope for a better Sierra Leone as the new environment will help them debate well and shorten the time of debates.

The acting Chinese Ambassador, Wang Xinmin, said he was happy that Sierra Leoneans appreciate all what China has been doing for them. He said China and Sierra Leone have a very cordial and fruitful relationship that will continue to grow and improve both countries. “We believe in brotherhood and Sierra Leone is one of our brothers in Africa, because we are always ready to assist and work with them. We want to see a better Sierra Leone, we want to work with the government of Sierra Leone and we want to make sure that all we are doing in Sierra Leone benefits the people and help the country’s economy to grow.”
