“When Director HE invited us to offer volunteer medical services to the respected teachers and staff of FBC two months ago, I accepted it without any hesitation…I was told that we are the first Chinese medical team presenting the volunteer medical service in the 191 years history of FBC” Dr. Liang said. Adding that, Chinese Medical Team has already worked with the local medical fellows in Sierra Leone for decades and that the whole team just wanted to do more good things to Sierra Leonean people.”

Head of the Confucius Institute at USL, Professor HE said he was very happy to participate in the free medical services in the college. Noting that, Confucius Institutes across the 146 countries serve as both language and friendship bridges between China and those countries. They propel the strategy of a win-win cooperation of a share future.

Highlighting the support of Chinese government, through the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of FBC, Prof. Sarh Gbamanja said majority of FBC university students have benefited from the Chinese Government Scholarships that provide opportunities for the students to further their studies in China. He added that Confucius Institute has always supported programs for the university citing the recent Job Fair that was organized by Confucius Institute and other Chinese companies to provide job opportunities for young graduates. He went on to note that, the free medical treatment was testament of the good friendship between the University and the Chinese Embassy in Freetown. He thanked the Chinese Medical Team for their gesture and noted that it was very good for the staff, as it would help them to know about their health status.

The Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. ZHANG Xueqian, praise the team for their hard work to organize such activities. He noted that China and Sierra Leone have always kept close cooperation for 47 years of share future. The free medical service on the campus of the famous FBC would serve to further consolidate the friendship between the two countries.

Medical checking-up of the staff of the college climaxed the event, wherein the TCM Therapy was popular. Dr. Duke and Dr. Battey treated the Deputy Registrar of FBC, Ms. Domingo with the Moxibusation and gave Dr. Findlay, the medical officer of FBC clinic acupuncture on his numb limbs.
