The ship, which carries 112 Chinese military medical personnel, has toured29 countries around the world and provided medical services to more than 100,000 people. The arrival of Ark Peace to Sierra Leone reflects the continuous commitment of the Chinese government’s support in improving medical services in Sierra Leone, which is line with the Strategic Partnership of Comprehensive Cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The ship could provide diagnosis and treatment of common diseases and different kinds of operations. There will also be inspection and maintenance services for medical equipment like CT, DR, X-RAY machines and other electronic devices like ultrasonic machines, ECG, biochemical analyzers, blood cell analyzers, dental equipment and much more. And the onboard medical experts are expected to provide both basic life support training and advanced life support training such as cardiovascular to local medical personnel.

Before the arrival of the ship, a delegation of the PLA medical experts were in Freetown and held fruitful preparation meetings with Ministry of Defense and other MDAs of the government of Sierra Leone.

With the full support from the Office of the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Ministry of Health and Sanitary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Transport and Aviation, Ministry of Sports, Sierra Leone Police, Sierra Leone Port Authority and Freetown City Council, preparations for arranging free medical services to the general public are underway in an orderly manner.

Screening and Registration Center will be set up at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium (at Old Railway Compound, Cline Town) from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during September 21 to 25 for the general public.

Those who wish to receive medical operations are required to register and make pre-operation preparations at either Sierra Leone – China Friendship Hospital (Jui) or other medical facilities designated by MOHS from September 11 to 18, 2017.
