An eye witness, Michael Augustine Munu disclosed that he was the first to notice the guys entering the compound when he decided to alert his friend, and that the robbers immediately took out a gun when they entered the mercury cash outlet, adding that he attempted to shout for help when one of the muggers’ directly shot at him.

He added “the moment I started shouting one of them took out a gun and shot at me twice but I have already lie on the ground upstairs, my friend was also struggling down the stairs when the shot at the door leading to the stairway and then we were panicked.”

Ibrahim Bundu another eye witness mentioned that the robbers were armed with guns and machete, owing to that they overpowered the police officer on duty, disarmed  him and robbed all the money available at the outlet and they left the building audaciously in confidence, Bundu noted.

Mercury retailer who was at the outlet to collect twenty-six million leones, mentioned that he received some punches from one of the robbers for delaying to comply with the robbers instruction. He confirmed that they took all the money that was in the office to pay winners, adding that they went further to steal winning tickets.

Another Retailer, Mohamed Dumbuya confirmed that he was the one that started chasing the robbers and that he was not around when the incident had occurred earlier, but he met them on his way to the office, pointing out that he did not know that they have robbed their office, he stated that he became aware as a result of the hollering of people around the crime scene, as a result of that he decided to pursing muggers.

 Dumbuya further stated that the moment they saw him they, the muggers responded by shooting at him and as a result of that he had to find a hide out before he was later joined by some community people and one police officer together with the disarmed police personnel. He reiterated that the robbers were shooting to kill them, but they had to find a way together with the support of the OSD police personnel to track them.

Speaking to the Deputy Head of Police Media and Public Relations Unit, Insp. Michael Kelly Dumbuya in a telephone interview informed AYV Newspaper that the management of the police is discreetly probing into the crux of the matter that led to the fatal demise of the four alleged armed robbers.

He however, commended the police for stabilizing the security at that part of the country.
