The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Sierra Leone has issued a strong warning to public officers across Sierra Leone to declare their income, assets and liabilities before the 20 July 2026 deadline, cautioning that failure to comply could result in administrative sanctions, including the withholding of salaries.
With less than a month remaining before the close of the 2026 Asset Declaration Exercise, the Commission has urged all public officers covered by the Anti-Corruption Act to complete and submit their declarations through the online Asset Declaration Portal without further delay.
Director of Public Education and Outreach, AbubakarrTuray, said the asset declaration exercise is a key accountability measure aimed at promoting transparency, integrity and good governance in the public service.
He said Section 119(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2008, as amended in 2019, requires public officers in Grade 7 and above, elected public officials, presidential appointees, and officers entrusted with fiduciary or financial responsibilities, among others, to declare their income, assets and liabilities within the prescribed period.
Mr. Turay also reminded public officers that Section 122A(1) of the Act makes it an offence to fail to submit asset declaration forms within the stipulated period or to knowingly provide false, inaccurate or misleading information.
The Commission has warned that non-compliance could attract a range of penalties, including administrative sanctions and the withholding of salaries, in accordance with the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act.
The ACC reiterated that all declarations must be submitted electronically through its Asset Declaration Portal and called on all affected public officers to meet the 20th July, 2026 deadline to avoid legal consequences.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the country’s anti-corruption laws and ensuring that public officials uphold the highest standards of accountability and transparency in public office.
