Presumptive All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has called for greater unity, discipline and mutual respect within the party as he continues engagements with APC stakeholders and traditional leaders in Port Loko district.

Addressing party supporters in Port Loko city on Monday, October 5, 2026, Dr. Bangura described Port Loko as a critical constituency in the history and future of the APC.

He congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the party’s recent constituency elections while encouraging those who were unsuccessful not to feel marginalised, stressing that the contests were between members of the same political family.

Dr. Bangura urged party stakeholders to work collectively to preserve peace and strengthen the APC, particularly in Port Loko, which he described as the birthplace of the party.

He also appealed to delegates to respect one another during the ongoing electoral processes and support district and regional executives who emerge from the elections.

On his flagbearer bid, Dr. Bangura said he was confident of victory, attributing his confidence to what he described as hard work and a deliberate campaign strategy.

He said his ultimate objective was to unite the APC and bring together supporters of different factions ahead of the 2028 elections.

Dr. Bangura said his political approach was deliberate and forward-looking, with the aim of ensuring that the APC emerges from its National Delegates Convention stronger, more united and disciplined.

Earlier, Dr. Bangura paid courtesy calls on Paramount Chief Bai Forkie Fainka II of Maforkie chiefdom and Paramount Chief Adekalie Mella III of Bakeh Loko chiefdom, reaffirming his respect for traditional institutions, elders, culture and customary leadership.

Paramount Chief Fainka II commended Dr. Bangura for what he described as a precedent-setting gesture of visiting traditional leaders. He encouraged the APC aspirant to maintain the practice and assured him that his doors would remain open.

In response, Dr. Bangura said the visit was motivated by his respect for tradition, culture and elders. He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet the Paramount Chief and acknowledged the calibre of people and political leaders associated with Port Loko district.

At his meeting with Paramount Chief Adekalie MellaIII, Dr. Bangura again emphasised the importance of respecting traditional authorities, describing the visit as an effort to establish a positive foundation for his political journey.

Paramount Chief Mella III described Dr. Bangura as the first APC flagbearer aspirant to pay him a courtesy call, expressing appreciation for the gesture. He subsequently prayed for and blessed Dr. Bangura, wishing him success in his political endeavours.

The engagements also underscored Dr. Bangura’s stated commitment to an inclusive and non-discriminatory political approach, including engagement with supporters of different aspirants as the APC prepares for its National Delegates Convention.
