His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has urged constituents not to vote for people who will not represent them well in the next House of Parliament after June elections – people he referred to as “Mumu Members of Parliament”.

The president made this call while addressing hundreds of party members at day one of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) 13th National Delegates Conference, concluding today 9th February, 2023 at the Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown.

President Bio called for unity and forgiveness in the party, adding that after the convention, everyone should be united and forgive one and other.

He further called for annual National Delegate Convention for the SLPP in order to foster unity not only to elect national officers, while assuring citizens that, he does not misuse his powers, he only uses his powers constitutionally.

He informed SLPP aspiring Members of Parliament (MPs) that, in this Proportional Representation system, the party will look out for people who can debate well in parliament and that there will be elections in the constituencies.

The president also re-echoed his vision for Sierra Leone after 2023 elections, assuring that he will focus on Agriculture just as he did for Education.

He called on SLPP party executive members to start work in order to win the 2023 elections, while discouraging the use of tribalism and called on party members to frown at tribalism at all levels with the party’s mantra ‘One Country One People’.

President Bio further assured SLPP members of victory 2023. In his words he said: “APC nor go able this yagba, nor to pa hype”.

The Conference according to the Party’s Secretariat, gives the opportunity to the party’s membership to better appreciate the achievement of the SLPP-led government since it assumed the reign of power in 2018.

In addition, the Conference also provides a platform for members to contribute to the Party’s Manifesto for the 2023 Elections.

In attendance yesterday were Her Excellency, the First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, the Deputy Leader and Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Chairman Alex Prince Harding and other national and regional officers of the party.

The 13th National Delegates’ Conference kicked off on 8th February with the theme: “Towards Radical Transformation, Counting the gains since 2018”.

In a similar development at the Conference yesterday, the All Political Parties Association (APPA), consisting of eleven political parties has declared their total support for President Bio ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

Chairman of APPA, Prince Coker informed delegates that there is no need for them to send in candidates for the June 2023 general elections as they will be supporting President Bio for a no runoff victory in the June 2023 elections.

The chairman admitted that they have seen tremendous changes in healthcare delivery, improved electricity supply, successful implementation of the Free Quality Education, the construction of a New Airport Terminal and the construction of the Kono University among others to convince them that President Bio is the best choice for Sierra Leone for now.

He noted that as opposition parties, they appreciate the good work of the president and urged him to continue to work hard in transforming Sierra Leone.

He appealed to the president to entrust his report card in their hands as they would ensure that they tell the nation what the president has done and what he is planning to do going forward.

Coker assured his audience that as opposition leaders, they would stick with the president and vote him 100% in 2023.

“Political parties under APPA will not send in candidates for the 2023 general elections; we will be voting for President Bio to continue to make Sierra Leone great” he affirmed.
