Ivory Coast fans have been left baffled by Mohamed Kamara, Sierra Leone’s goalkeeper at the ongoing AfCON after he saved Sebastien Haller’s effort in scoring a penalty in the Africa Cup of Nations Group E game.

The shotstopper had a howler as Haller easily found the net to open the scoring 25 minutes into the game.

Wilfried Zaha’s outstanding pass found Haller who slipped past the back-pedalling Sierra Leone defence but Kamara stumbled in the wrong direction as he appeared to make no attempt to block the Ajax man’s shot.

Sierra Leone eventually snatched a point from the fixture after a monumental error from Ivory Coast goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare at the other end of the pitch.

Sierra Leone eventually snatched a point from the fixture after a monumental error from Ivory Coast goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare at the other end of the pitch.

Ali Sangare dropped the ball in stoppage time after it was headed back to him. As a result, Alhaji Kamara was able to score Sierra Leone’s equaliser.

Ali Sangare also managed to injure himself, forcing Serge Aurier to go in goal for the Ivory Coast as they lost their lead to draw the game 2-2.

But fans couldn’t stop commenting on Kamara’s bizarre antics in goal that led to the opener.

Football fans took to social media as they jokingly likened the attempt to a ‘Year 7 facing a Year 11’.

‘Keeper acting like a year 7 in goal up against a year 11 about to shoot from 6 yards,’ one fan posted.

While, another compared it to playing in goal in a five-a-side match, saying: ‘When you’ve been in goal for more than 5 minutes at 5s.’ Others were stunned into disbelief as they questioned where the glovesman thought he was going.

‘What was the keeper doing,’ queried one, while another wrote: ‘Where was the keeper going here?’

One fan claimed that Kamara did not fancy making the save and another simply joked that the goalkeeper intently moved away from the shot as they commented: ‘”I’m moving away from that!”

The error was made even more shocking by the fact it came after Kamara had impressed between the posts in the tournament until that point.

Just 13 minutes before the goal, Kamara had denied the Ivory Coast an opener from the spot as he produced a great save to block AC Milan’s Franck Kessie’s penalty.

Kamara had previously been hailed as ‘unplayable’ as he was named Man of the Match in the Leone Stars’ opening game against Algeria.

His heroics between the sticks saw his side earn a superb point and clean sheet, and to little surprise, the stopper celebrated the result as if were a victory at full-time.

The 22-year-old was later named the man of the match in the surprise stalemate, thanks to a brave display which saw him frustrate one of the tournament’s favourites.
