The Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone, Mohamed K. Konneh and the UNDP Resident Representative, Pa Lamin Beyai have co-chaired the Sierra Leone Election Project Board meeting with the theme: ‘Fostering Peaceful, Credible and Inclusive Elections in Sierra Leone 2022 – 2023’.

The Sierra Leone Election Project Board is a multi-stakeholders forum of national and international partners to provide general oversight, strategic guidance, and direction in the funding, implementing, and monitoring of the election project work plans of the EC-SL, Political Parties Regulation Commission, Sierra Leone Police, Human Rights Commission, Youth Commission, the Judiciary, UN Women and Civil Society working on Elections.

The objective of the meeting is to assess progress made so far in preparation for the June 2023 elections and how to address electoral, political, and technical challenges arising during the implementation process.

In a similar engagement, the EC-SL has announced that it will hold a national Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC)/Stakeholders meeting on Sunday 21st May 2023.

EC-SL said the topic of the pending meeting will be: ‘Election Campaign Calendar for all levels (Presidential, Parliamentary, Local Council and Independent Candidates’, and will be used to popularise the Campaign Calendar set by EC-SL.
