Speaking to AYV Sports, Mohamed Ahmed Papa Kanu, Head of Media said the Competition was first played in 2010, adding that the brain behind the competition is the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Chernor Maju Bah aka Chericoco.

According to him, Hon. Bah was the initiator who thought it fit that football is one of the best ways to honor President Koroma for the good work he has done and still continue to do for the young people of this country.

The yearly event has always been graced by President Koroma himself and he has been using the event as one opportunity to romance with young people of the district.

He said even after President Koroma would have retired from the presidency, the competition will still be played in his honor and he will still be invited to grace the event as grand chief patron and interact with his young people.
