He was responding to questions on AYV television yesterday morning when he made startling revelations of exams officers perpetrating, condoning and supervising examination malpractices at the detriment of quality education in Sierra Leone.

“The system is corrupt,” he said, adding that it is just impossible for exams papers to be leaked to the pupils ahead of exams without the active participation of exams officers.

“2004 for example, at least nine out of twelve or thirteen subjects were leaked to the pupils ahead of the actual examination,” Thomas disclosed.

He said leakage of exams question is just one among several forms of examination malpractices perpetrated by exams officers.

He further highlighted that some of these exams officers and administrators falsifying certificates for undeserving pupils.

According to him, some examiners are actually dictating word for word the questions for the pupils during the exams.

Dr. Thomas emphasized that results of pupils guilty of exams malpractice should not be released for any reason.

He pointed out that it is high time all stakeholders examine the actual reasons behind examination malpractices and punish the perpetrators.
