Police in Bo district, Southern Sierra Leone have arrested four persons for allegedly digging a human grave and extract bones for “Kush” processing.

Kush is a dangerous drug that currently poses diverse threats to persons, especially youths and various communities nationwide.

According to a police spokesperson in Bo, Constable 19138 Alhaji Osman Mansaray, the arrest came after police received intelligence that the four accused persons were suspiciously in a community-owned cemetery in Gondama Tibo.

Police Constable 19138 Mansaray added that the disturbing discovery was made by the youths of Gondama Tibo, Kakua chiefdom, Bo district who stormed the cemetery upon intelligence and later discovered a young man identified as Mohammed Bundu Kamara with a bag ready to be loaded with human remains.

The four individuals were arrested on allegations of exhuming human remains for the production of “Kush”.

The accused persons include: Mohammed Bundu Kamara, Unisa Charles Turay, Samuel Bockarie and John Charles, all said to be residents of Dorba Ground in Bo.

“The four accused were arrested on Thursday August 24th 2023 and are currently helping the police with investigation,” police officer Mansaray confirmed. The vigilance of Gondama Tibo youths and the timely intervention of Assistance Superintendents of Police ASP Jacob Ganda led to the arrests.
