The formal witness, detective police constable Sahr Foday was led in evidence by ASP Samuel Kamara and he told the court that he recalled the incident of 13 May 2017, and whiles on duty a transferred and enquiry file was assigned to him for further investigation.

He disclosed that he is attached to the Criminal Investigation Department headquarter in Freetown, and whiles on duty on the same day, the complainant together with two witnesses arrived at his location  and reported a case of stolen pathfinder jeep with registration number; AMY 196 against the accused person.

The witness explained that additional statements were obtained from the complainant and her two witnesses in respect of the stolen vehicle, and in the course of the investigation, one of the complainant witnesses, Mohamed Unissa Jammeh made mentioned of the accused in the dock.

According to him, Mohamed Unissa Jammeh was later invited  at criminal Investigation Department headquarter for further questioning, and in the process, they  contacted the accused person on his cell line, adding that the accused persons responded  by stating that he is a car agent and transports migrants heading for Italy through Libya.

Detective Sahr Foday intimated that they were able to arrest and detained the accused before a contemporaneous interview statement was obtained from the accused.

He further intimated that during the course of

Investigation, they also perused several documents, among which the replacement of vehicle life card with registration number AIY 196 in the name of complainant, Rebecca Musa, and the contemporaneous interview statement of the accused was produced and tendered in evidence.

On the 5 June 2017, the witness said he also obtained charge statement from the accused and concluded his investigation by preferring charges against the accused person, following which the matter was charged to court.

 The matter was postponed to Thursday 12 October 2017.
