Awoko’s attack on FIFA comes just days after the world governing body rejected his nine-man Interim body which was elected last month in an extra ordinary tele-congress staged in Freetown. FIFA was responding to Awoko’s January 6th, 2015 letter seeking the support of FIFA.

In his reply to the interim chairman, FIFA’s General Secretary, Jerome Valeke stated that Awoko Interim executive is not recognized by FIFA, adding that as a general principle, FIFA only communicates with its member Association and through the SLFA representatives which are the President, Madam Isha Johansen and General Secretary, Christopher Kamara.

However, in reaction to FIFA’s letter, Awoko stated that they will never reverse their decision because they never violated Art. 17 mentioned by FIFA in their letter.

“The Art. 17 part 3 of the FIFA statues talks about the membership and we are the bonafide members of the SLFA. We own the SLFA and we have spoken and nothing will change our decision,” he emphasized.

Awoko said in an interview with AYV Sport that FIFA’s position will not change anything and under the same Art.17 they are now violating the statutes because this is an internal matter that must be resolved internally.
