Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, has announced that the Government has successfully completed all resolutions outlined in the Agreement for National Unity (ANU), marking a significant milestone in the country’s political reform process.

Speaking on the development, Dr. Sengeh expressed appreciation to key stakeholders, including the Government, the opposition All People’s Congress, citizens, and the international moral guarantors, for their collective efforts in achieving full implementation of the eight resolutions embedded in the agreement.

He described the achievement as unprecedented, noting that it reflects a shared national commitment to addressing electoral challenges and strengthening democratic processes.

“This is novel and truly only possible because we all have one similar objective — to ensure we limit major electoral challenges in the future,” he stated.

The Chief Minister further highlighted that, from the return to democratic governance in 1996 through subsequent elections in 2007, 2012, 2018, and 2023, the current level of cooperation represents the most significant progress made in advancing national reforms.

The Agreement for National Unity was introduced as part of efforts to ease post-election tensions and promote dialogue, reconciliation, and institutional reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and public confidence in Sierra Leone’s democratic system.
