Abdul Karim (Fonti) Kabia, Director of Communications and Public Relations at the AYV Media Empire, was singled out in a national population of some seven million people to represent the youth of Sierra Leone at the all-important youth conference that will largely define the future of the youth in his West African country in relation to IDB interventions.

The summit is scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the 15th and 16th of May 2017, on the sidelines of the 42nd Annual General Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank.

According to the IDB, the resolutions from the youth summit would be presented for consideration to the Board of Governors of the Group.

The Sierra Leone representative, who is currently on assignment in Ghana at the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), is due to fly from Accra to Jeddah to represent the youth of Sierra Leone.

In a snap interview with the communications chief, who has been closely working with the youth through his journalism and rights activism, Fonti disclosed that he was so loaded to present the prospects and challenges of his fellow youth for the attention of the IDB in particular and the world at large.

“This is going to serve as an opportunity to present an undiluted true picture of the situation of the youths of Sierra Leone with the hope that it convinces the Islamic Development Bank to focus on interventions that will empower the youth who are readily available to embrace positive change in their lives,” Fonti disclosed.

He called on the youth and all well meaning Sierra Leoneans to keep him in their prayers as he remains optimistic that his participation in the summit could only bring the best for the youth of Sierra Leone
