Chiefdom’s authorities and inhabitants have happily told this reporter that should he successfully sail through parliament in the morrow, they are well prepared and ready to give Bai Mahmoud an exclusive Red Carpet welcome and celebration in Koya chiefdom like no one else has ever enjoyed before in the history of the chiefdom, save President Koroma.

“If our honorable parliamentarians okay our beloved Bai Mahmoud, we have planned to carry him on our best made harmocks from point A to point Z within the chiefdom followed with sweet and melodious drums sound and local balangies and traditional dancing escorting him from point to point.” A local chief joyously stated.

All these revelations were made when the young youth minister designate, Bai Mahmoud Bangura visited the chiefdom over the weekend to grace the chiefdom’s 5th Inter-Section Athletics Sports meet which was held at the Songo Town recreational field, where he honorably served as Special Guest of Honor for the well attended event.

The sport meet also attracted other distinguished personalities like, the President Sierra Leone Athletics Association; executives from various sporting disciplines, The Wipe of Parliament, Members of Parliament from Port Loko district and Koya chiefdom stakeholders among others.

The well organized event was overwhelmed with showers of praises for President Koroma for entrusting such responsibility on one of Koya’s successful sons of the soil. Speaker after speaker showered praises on the president for appointing as minister, a dynamic young man who they said loves and cares for young people.

One of the speakers who introduced himself as a Section Headman of Koya said during Bai Mahmoud’s tenure as Presidential Youth Aide, he was able to narrow the gap that has been in existence for decades between the presidency and the young people of Sierra Leone. He said the fine young man was also able to ensure that formidable peace and tranquility exist between various gang groups and dreadful cliques across the country.

President of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association, Abdul Karim Sesay who doubles as Principal Ahmadiyya Secondary School in Freetown, thanked His Excellency the President for empowering and giving life to the young people of Sierra Leone, citing Bai Mahmoud Bangura’s appointment as Minister of Youth Affairs as being one of H.E’s most admirable appointments.

He described Bai Mahmoud as a life changer for young people in politics, self empowerment, education, and other sectors of life development. He also mentioned the roles played by Bai Mahmoud in ensuring the 2012 general elections were democratic, transparent, peaceful and fair, through the formation of the All Political Parties Youth Association (APPYA), an Association that helped to make the said elections very peaceful.

“Bai Mahmoud is a respecter of all and he is always ready to help young people in difficulties. I believe he can deliver the best, should our honorable House approve him.” Mr. Sesay concluded amidst rounds of applause from the mammoth crowd of audience.

The Koya event was climaxed with the distribution of medals, awards, trophies and certificates of merit to participants and decoration of celebrities and athletics of the event by the youth minister designate himself, Bai Mahmoud Bangura.
