Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swarray has supported residents of Foindu and other surrounding towns and villages in the Peri chiefdom Pujehun district with bags of rice and other cooking condiments.
The donated items were meant to support the ongoing voter registration in those parts of the country.
The minister’s visit to the district was to give a boost to the ongoing voter registration through sensitisation and logistical support to the local authorities and registration staff.
The various neighboring communities, having Foindu as the center, received a bag of rice and a purse for condiments.
The people from the various communities listened to the minister as he outlined the importance of the voter registration and urged them all to register and further ensure all those who are qualified to do so.
He encouraged local authorities to give all support to the registration staff to make their work easy.
“The only way you people can show appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio is to register to give you right to exercise your rights next year,” he added.
Voter Registration: 8 Things Worth Knowing
1. Voter registration centres are opened for 15 days, categorised into two (2) phases.
i. Phase 1, from 3rd – 17th September 2022.
ii. Phase 2, from 20th September – 4th October 2022.
2. Registration centres are opened from 7:00am – 5:00pm daily.
3. There are NCRA desks in all Voter Registration Centres to capture persons who did not register with NCRA during the Civil Registration process.
4. Details of persons whose information is already in the civil register database are processed through the Voter Verification Kits (VVK).
5. Details of persons whose information are not in the civil register database (new registrants) are captured first through the VIU Kits. They are then identified as voters through the VVK.
6. Register at the nearest registration center where you reside (near your home). In 2023, you will be allowed to vote where you registered.
7. Documentary proof of Identity: National ID card, passport, birth certificate, certificate of naturalisation, local tax receipt.
8. If you don’t have any of the above-mentioned documents to show, any of the following personalities can serve as your witness and vouch for you: Paramount Chief, Tribal Head, Town Chief, Section Chief, Village Head, Religious Leader, Head of Educational Institution and Councillor.
