Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah has said that the new team at the Ministry is poised to achieve valuable results in the first hundreds days.

Mr. Bah said that the new team at his ministry is young, dynamic, accomplished and result driven, adding that it was not a mistake that they have been appointed to serve the people of Sierra Leone. He described the team as a game changer in making sure that all modalities are put in place for the Presidency to succeed.

The Information Minister made reference to the statement of President Bio, during the State Opening of Parliament. He said that the statement was delivered on an appreciable tone, making reference on how the president has already called on all members of the opposition to have a dialogue, work as a team and to advance growth and development in Sierra Leone.

He said that President Bio remains passionate about results and developments, noting therefore that the focus is to deliver on the big five manifestos in this second term and to see that no Sierra Leonean goes to bed hungry.

On the August 2022 protests, the Minister said that government condemns the unlawful attacks and added that perpetrators would be brought to book. He said that the safety and security of the country is very paramount and that people should not take such for granted. He therefore admonished all and sundry to work in the best interest of the country.

On the elections review committee that has been set up, he said that the focus is to look into the challenges and possible areas of improvements. He added that the appointment of the Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh to lead the committee is a step in the right direction, taking into consideration the enormous reputation and experiences of the second gentleman.

On the decision of the main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC) to boycott governance, Mr. Bah said that government sees the APC as brothers and sisters, and urged that they rightly occupy their seats in Parliament and in governance. He said that the interest of the nation has to be placed above all else.

Minister Bah concluded that the new team of president Bio is battle tested and that all of them are fully fired up to deliver for the people of Sierra Leone, adding that the mixture of young bright minds with experienced and accomplished others speaks volume.
