He disclosed that after the national wide disaster, he immediately visited the scene together with his security guards and also joined   community youths who were on the scene to render assistance, but that he could not control his emotions as he saw people struggling under the rubble.

Dr. Foday Kandeh Yumkella further noted that he was impressed with the passion of the minister to mobilize the youths to save lives, and his efforts was in no way intended to garner   popularity or galvanize public sympathy.

The controversial politician furthered that he disagreed with youth of his movement, when they wanted to wear their KKY T-shirt to join other rescuers at the disaster scene, and was not  surprised, when the youths  informed him of the high standards of discipline and tolerance the  minister demonstrated.

He emphasized that the minister of internal affairs, rtd Alfred Paolo Conteh was a discipline and decent Sierra Leonean that needed to be encouraged in other to maintain professionalism.

According to him, he had suspended his campaign as a way of showing solidarity and to further mourn with friends and relatives of people perished in the flood and mudslide disaster.
