Speaking further, Mr. Benjamin went on to state that the councillors said the purpose of their visit was to lobby with the President for development in their district and apologize to the him on behalf of the district’s indigenes  for the mayhem they have been causing against him since he assume power.

This Mr. Benjamin describes as an act of pure idleness, noting that there is no need for them to undertake such a venture as the people that elect them are still dissatisfied.

He said initially it seems as if he has an intention to sideline the district. However, he recalled that some Members of Parliament from the district engaged him on issues surrounding development in the district where he promised them faithfully to consider them.

He said as we speak the contract for the road of Kenema has been signed and there are several development plans on course for the district.

Hence he questioned why a “so-called meeting with the President” to lobby for development of the district.

The SLPP former Chairman defined the role of the President as the servant of the entire nation, and every districts of the country.

In that note he said if he finds out that the people of a particular district feel left out, it is his duty reach them.

As a result he said the President should be too busy to be confused with “petty issues”.

“That is distracting the President and that should be stopped with immediate effect”, JOB as he is fondly called warned, stressing that it’s one of the reasons why the country is still lagging behind as President Koroma is mostly engaged in unproductive meetings.

John Benjamin went on describe the councillors’ acts as intra party indiscipline, as he uncovered that the councillors are settled out for that journey in Freetown from Kenema to embarrass their Party.

He said the councillors are misguided and are failing to realize that they are councillors as a result of their political party.

He cautioned them to resist from acts that bring confusion in their party. He said at the moment the Sierra Leone People’s Party is concentrated on legitimate moves that will take them to state house and occupy majority of the sits in Parliament and the councils, for this reason he said they as loyal members of the party will appreciate it the more if people leave quietly instead of creating problems for the party, and at the end of the day giving cause for them to be expelled.
