Her Excellency the First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio has encouraged Sierra Leoneans to refrain from all sorts of violence before, during and after the 2023 elections, further encouraging them to embrace peace as it is the only way to unite the country.

Dr. Bio was addressing hundreds of countrymen and women at the Bombali district where she admonished the people, especially youths, to stop following politicians blindly all in the name of loyalty.

She implored them to put their interests and that of the country first while supporting politicians based on their messages and their plans for the country.

The first lady encouraged the women and youth to take the election seriously as it will determine their future and their children’s future.

Dr. Fatima Maada Bio said: “You will not be voting for a president or politician in this election, you will be voting for the future of yourself and that of your children, safety and protection among a host of other things.”

Paramount Chief of Kamabai, Salifu Mana welcomed the first lady and entourage into their district and assured her of their support.

He admitted that Kamabai and Bombali districts are part of Sierra Leone and that all political parties have the right to campaign as and when they like.

PC Mana said: “You are free to support any political party you choose to support, don’t fill intimidated by anyone or anything.”
