Lahai Marah has been declared winner of the All People’s Congress (APC) District Chairmanship re-run election for Falaba District, securing 74 votes.
The re-run, which was initially expected to take place in Falaba, was instead held in Makeni as part of the party’s efforts to conclude the outstanding district-level leadership contest.
Marah polled 74 votes, while Abubakarr Jalloh received two votes. Lahai Koroma, who was listed as a candidate, did not participate in the re-run and recorded three votes in the reported tally.
The results were:
Lahai Marah — 74 votes
Lahai Koroma — 3 votes
Abubakarr Jalloh — 2 votes
Koroma’s absence from the re-run and the decision to hold the election in Makeni, rather than Falaba, are among the key circumstances surrounding the contest.
Marah was subsequently declared winner based on the reported final tally of 79 votes.
Any concerns regarding the conduct or arrangements of the re-run would be subject to the APC’s applicable electoral procedures and any other lawful avenues available to the parties involved.
The result now places Marah at the head of the APC’s district leadership structure in Falaba, subject to any applicable internal electoral or legal processes.
