This, according to the medical team leader and president of the Medilor France, Anne Woffe, is to respond to the call of President Koroma to help alleviate the plights of the humanitarian disaster victims.

The team, comprising doctors and nurses, would be providing medical support to the Old School and Juba Camps.

A representative of the French honorary consul, Prince Idris Kamara said that the France and Sierra Leone have had long bilateral ties and since the closure of the French Embassy in Freetown in 1996, the Embassy in Guinea has also covered Sierra Leone.

The Sierra Leonean Ambassador with jurisdiction for France resides in Brussels. When they heard about such disaster in the country, the honorary consul here deemed it fit to consult with the france community for immediate help hence the team.

The team arrived with medications worth over US$800 thousand dollars and they have been in the country for the past one week administering the medical services.

Anne further thanked the Counsel of France and the Sierra Leone Foreign Affairs Ministry for the reception and to the nurses here who are supporting the team to peacefully carry on with their work and didn’t regret choosing Sierra Leone for such a humanitarian venture.
