Sony Ramakrshina further disclosed that the one hundred scholarships symbolize his company posture to ensure that youth especially pupils who are the less privileged and upcoming generation have access to education and at the same time provided them with the required attention, guidance, material and financial support towards achieving their academic goals.
According to the General Manager of Milla Group, education is a fundamental pillar for the socio-economic and political development of a nation, and that government and other institutions with keen interest in education have and continue to make tremendous contributions in the area of assisting pupils in various part of the country.
He added that, it is in this light that his company will remain grateful, committed and resolute in terms of complementing government efforts and other state institutions with unshakable posture and diversified projects for school pupils to access and complete their educational pursuit.
Sony Ramakrishna implored the awardees to make excellent use of the scholarships package by according special attention, hard work, diligence and courage to their academic work, noting that Milla Group has also created employments for over one hundred Sierra Leonean youth, coupled with additional factory at Grafton, set to create more employments for youth in that part of the country.
Receiving the scholarships, a pupil of the Kissy Primary School, Isata Kargbo on behalf of the awardees expressed profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to Milla Group of Companies for its commitments and dedication towards assisting them in their educational pursuits.
She maintained that, over the years Milla Group has donated scholarships to pupils of various primary and secondary schools as part of its corporate social responsibility and participated positively with regards other development related issues of the community.
Isata Kargbo assured officials of Milla Group of Companies that, the scholarship will be utilized for its intended purpose and at the same time remains grateful to Milla Group for such a wonderful gesture.
She concluded by urging other companies operating within the Fisher Lane and other Communities to emulate the good examples of Milla Group of Companies.
The ceremony was graced by tribal and traditional authorities, community stakeholders, civil society organizations, parents including youth groups who also showered praises on Milla Group for what they referred to as a company with a difference.
