Newly elected Speaker of the Sierra Leone Parliament, Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas has assured the world that he will work for the people of Sierra Leone and not for hi political party.

Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas said: “I was not elected by the SLPP Members of Parliament alone, I was elected by the SLPP Members of Parliament, the APC Members of Parliament and the Paramount Chief Members of Parliament. I am going to respect your opinions and I am not going to spare any effort to ensure that we are united as a House. We will do the work of our people”.

The Members of Parliament from both sides of the political isle have commended and congratulated both the Speaker and his Deputy, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh on their elections to aforesaid positions of trust.

In another development in the House, the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments and the Public Service has interviewed two presidential candidate for various positions of trust.

Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Electoral Commissioner Southern Region and Hon. Manso Dumbuya as Chairman Board of Directors of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbour Authority were the two Presidential Nominees were interviewed on oath.
