In a major step toward enhancing Sierra Leone’s petroleum industry, the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has concluded a successful exploratory engagement with Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to study its operational and regulatory frameworks.
The visit focused on understanding Ghana’s proven petroleum management models, emphasizing technical advancement, sound policy formulation, and effective human resource management — lessons that could be adapted to strengthen Sierra Leone’s downstream sector.
Leading the delegation, Madam Wuyata Deen Swarray, Director of Policy and Planning Development at NPRA, praised the NPA’s robust regulatory policies that have positioned Ghana as a regional leader in petroleum governance. She highlighted NPRA’s ongoing reforms and adoption of international best practices, underscoring the Authority’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment and ensuring efficiency across the sector.
Welcoming the team, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tamelko Esq., Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s NPA, commended the NPRA’s initiative to learn from Ghana’s experience. He described the visit as a testament to growing regional collaboration and encouraged Sierra Leone to implement proven policies that could accelerate growth and sustainability within Africa’s energy landscape.
