OBBA honours First Lady Dr. Fatima Bio

The OBBA National Executive recently paid a thank-you visit to Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio at her Goderich Office. This visit was a gesture of appreciation for her gracious acceptance of their invitation to serve as the distinguished guest speaker at the 118th Bo School Celebrations.

During the visit, the executive members presented Her Excellency with a letter of appreciation, expressing their gratitude for her participation in the event. Additionally, they offered a centenary magazine commemorating the rich history and legacy of the Bo School, along with a Bo School cap as tokens of their appreciation.

Her Excellency warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to be part of such a significant celebration. She commended the OBBA National Executive for their dedication to preserving the traditions and values of the esteemed institution. The meeting served as a moment of mutual gratitude and recognition, reaffirming the strong bond between the Bo School and the First Lady of Sierra Leone.

In another development, Madam Seraphine Wakana, the UN Resident Coordinator paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Fatima Maada Bio at her Goderich office. During the visit, Her Excellency expressed sincere gratitude for Madam Wakana’s presence, warmly welcoming her.

Graciously, Her Excellency took the opportunity to highlight several key initiatives since assuming her role as the country’s First Lady. These initiatives, including the “Hands off our Girls” campaign, the distribution of free sanitary pads, and the National Food Basket were all discussed in detail.

The primary focus of the meeting centered around discussing Her Excellency’s flagship programs and initiatives, with particular emphasis on the proposed Prohibition of Child Marriage Bill. Both women engaged in fruitful discussions, exchanging insights and ideas on how to effectively address child marriage and further the empowerment of women and girls in Sierra Leone.

Madam Wakana conveyed her admiration for Her Excellency’s unwavering dedication to critical issues concerning women and children. She commended the First Lady’s tireless efforts in advocating for their rights and well-being, whilst reaffirming the strong partnership between the First Lady’s office and the United Nations in their shared commitment to building a brighter future for all Sierra Leoneans.
