Leading telecommunications company Africell Sierra Leone has called on Sierra Leoneans to take greater responsibility for protecting the environment by adopting sustainable practices and reducing plastic waste.
In a message marking World Environment Day, the company highlighted the long-term environmental impact of plastic pollution, noting that plastic bottles can take up to 450 years to decompose.
Africell encouraged citizens to rethink their daily habits and embrace the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling in order to help preserve the environment for future generations.
“Did you know plastic bottles can take up to 450 years to decompose? Let’s rethink our habits; reduce, reuse, and recycle for our beloved Sierra Leone. Every small action adds up in protecting our planet,” the company stated.
The telecommunications firm emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and urged individuals, communities, and institutions to play their part in promoting cleaner and healthier surroundings.
World Environment Day is observed annually to raise awareness about environmental challenges and encourage collective action toward sustainable development and conservation efforts worldwide.
