An Ariogbo in Sierra Leone is a masked devil used traditionally to investigate missing items, mostly used to identify witches, wizards and thieves.

Speaking to AYV news, Komba Aiah Momoh, husband of the late Mrs. Janet Aiah Momoh whose corpse got missing said when his late wife died last week, the family met and agreed that they put remains at the Connaught hospital mortuary awaiting burial arrangements.

“We agreed to bury her today 18th December after we would have completed her laying out and memorial service here at the mortuary. Unfortunately, we are here now today for her funeral rites and we could not see our corpse.” Komba explained.

He went on explaining that, led by the Mortuary team, they inspected all the corpses admitted at the mortuary and her late wife’s remains was nowhere to be found.

Peter Augustine Charles is the Revenue Collector and Head of Admin at the Connaught Hospital Mortuary confirmed to this medium that the remains of late Mrs. Janet Aiah Momoh was actually brought for admission at the mortuary and was assigned to one senior staff identified as Abu.

He also further confirmed that past Thursday, the family came and the mortal remains of the late women was shown to them in the Mortuary.

“I was shocked to be told this afternoon that the corpse has disappeared from the Mortuary. Together with the family, we have searched all around the mortuary and even inspected all the corpses admitted here and their’s could not be seen.” Peter said.

He went on to say he suspects that there must have been a mistake and maybe the corpse of Janet might have been mistakenly buried alongside some unidentified corpse past Friday.
