The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sackey, has issued a stern warning to school principals and heads of institutions nationwide to ensure that accurate, clear and complete data are uploaded onto the Batch Registration System (BRS)ahead of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The Minister stressed that the February 28, 2026 deadline for uploading candidates’ information onto the BRS is final, warning that no extensions will be granted under any circumstances.
According to Mr Sackey, school principals and heads of institutions will bear full responsibility for any failure to submit the required data within the stipulated timeframe, adding that lapses in registration could result in eligible pupils being unable to sit the examination.
“The responsibility lies squarely with school heads to ensure that all candidates’ details are properly captured and submitted on time,” the Minister cautioned, noting that errors or omissions could have serious academic consequences for affected students.
He further explained that the Batch Registration System is a mandatory requirement for all pupils intending to sit the WASSCE, as it serves as the official database used by examination authorities to validate candidates’ eligibility.
The Minister urged school administrators to double-check all entries, including names, dates of birth, subject combinations and other essential personal information, before final submission. He also encouraged schools to avoid last-minute uploads, which often lead to technical challenges and data inaccuracies.
Education stakeholders say the warning underscores the Ministry’s commitment to improving examination integrity, efficiency and accountability within the school system. They note that accurate data submission through the BRS is crucial for effective planning, coordination with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), and the smooth conduct of the 2026 examinations.
Parents and guardians have also been advised to follow up with school authorities to ensure that their children’s registration details are properly submitted ahead of the deadline.
As the countdown to the February 28 deadline continues, the Ministry has reiterated its call on school heads to treat the BRS registration process with urgency and professionalism to safeguard the academic future of all WASSCE candidates.
