The Dynamic Young Adult of the First Pentecostal Assemble of God Church at Campbell Street in Freetown has celebrated Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire’s Director of Technical, Akie Coker.

Akie served as Special Guest at the Church’s 7th Annual Thanksgiving Service which attracts various media personalities including the Executive Secretary of AYV Ivan Gbondo, Dr. Ezekiel Kalvin Durammany-Lakkoh, various staff of the Company and other important personalities.

Delivering his speech with the theme: ‘Young People: The backbone of any nation and institution’, Akie encouraged young people not to see themselves as future leaders but leader of today.

He expressed dismay that many young people nowadays in Sierra Leone have embarked on the habit of taking Kush.

He explained how the killer drug will destroy the future of these youngies and encouraged them to stop the intake and focus on positively transforming themselves for a better future.

Akie went on that after the decade long civil war in Sierra Leone to date, government and its partners have invested lots of money on youth, but with more focus on women and girls, forgetting the boys.

He encouraged authorities to invest more on boys, which he believes will help combat drug abuse, thuggery and robbery among young people.

Dr. Emmanuel E.M Stafford from Saint Mark’s Evangelic Church at Lumley severed as Guest Preacher of the occasion. He encouraged the young people to major in their majors and minor in their minors, while hailing the theme as very appropriate for the event.

The event was climaxed with a special recognition award awarded to Akie Coker for his contributions to the youth and the Church.
