Police in Mile 91 have made significant headway in a series of robbery incidents following a string of events that began late last month.

According to reports, the CONEX Fuel Station was targeted multiple times between March 22 and April 8, 2024, resulting in substantial losses.

The investigation accelerated on April 9 when, acting on a tip-off, the Local Unit Commander and his team executed a search warrant at Mohamed Thullah’s residence in Mafunday village.

The search yielded several items including five android phones, a button phone, one power bank, and a small amount of cash, all suspected to be linked to the robberies.

The operation led to the arrest of two men, John Kamara and Dennis Brown, who were taken to the local station for questioning. The subsequent searches at nearby residences uncovered additional evidence including a foam mattress and a crowbar.

On April 10, further searches were conducted at the same and other local residences, during which police detained another suspect, Abass Koroma, who was not present during the initial searches.

A breakthrough came after rigorous interrogations when all three suspects provided confessions. This information led the police to a secluded area behind the G-Complex Entertainment Centre, where they uncovered a locally made pistol, 10 cartridges, and a quantity of Kush.

Adding a dramatic twist to the case, Dennis Brown revealed he had recently escaped from the Maximum Correctional Centre on Pademba road, where he was serving time for a separate robbery.

The recovered items and confessions mark a significant development in the fight against local crime in the township, with investigations ongoing.
