As tensions are getting higher for the 2018 presidential and parliamentary elections, the PPRC is concerned with the conduct of political parties across the country.

The Commission brought together political parties representatives and other elections stakeholders to map out strategy for credible and transparent elections come next year.

At the meeting, Chairman of PPRC, Justice Patrick Hamilton spoke on the mandates and supervisory roles of the Commission whiles assuring his audience that the Commission is well set to execute these roles and mandates to the best of perfection.

For his part, Chief Electoral Commissioner, National Electoral Commission, Mohamed N’fa Alie Conteh said no country in the world would succeed in holding democratic elections without the cooperation of all stakeholders responsible.

He continued that this is the first national election that will be conducted in Sierra Leone without the supervision of the United Nations and assured that the Commission is well set and prepared to give the People of Sierra Leone and the world in general a free, fair, credible and transparent election come March 2018.

Commissioner Conteh expressed thanks and appreciation to the international community for its continued support towards Sierra Leone’s forthcoming elections.

He concluded with an assurance to the people of Sierra Leone that NEC is dedicated to conducting the coming elections and it will jealously guard its independence and will not be subjected to the direction or control of any person or authority.

The Commission he further assured is open to positive collaboration and contributions to the electoral process from stakeholders but that it will out rightly resist “legally” any attempt to derail the electoral process.
