Pregnant woman dies after ambulance gets stuck on Falaba road

Share

A pregnant woman from Farawa, Wolabara chiefdom, Falaba district, has reportedly died while being transported to Kabala Government Hospital in neighbouring Koinadugu district after poor road conditions disrupted her emergency referral.

Falaba District Medical Officer, Dr. Daniel Lavalie, said the first ambulance dispatched to transport the woman became stuck on the road, forcing health authorities to send a second ambulance. Sadly, the woman died while being transported to the hospital.

The incident has renewed concerns over the deplorable state of roads in Falaba District and the challenges residents face in accessing emergency healthcare, particularly in remote communities.

It has also highlighted calls for urgent improvements to rural road infrastructure to ensure that patients can reach health facilities in time during medical emergencies.

How many more lives could be at risk if poor roads continue to delay emergency medical care in remote communities.
