Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah has said at this year’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio attended over fifty successful bilateral meetings.

Minister Bah described this year’s UNGA as the most successful outing Sierra Leone has had in the past sixty years at UNGA. He disclosed that Sierra Leone is not just a member of the UN Security Council but is now going to be the Chair of the United Nations Security Council in 2024.

Sierra Leone, he went on, is very much on course on the MCC and that the message from the Government of Sierra Leone is very clear that the country is ready for business and partnership.

Minister Bah is currently in Beijing, China to address the International Seminar on Girls and Women’s Education at the Beijing Normal University in China.

The minister, who serves on UNESCO’s Global Jury for Girls and Women’s Education is at present in Beijing on the invitation of the country’s First Lady Prof. Peng Liyuan and UNESCO.

Prior to the Seminar, Minister Bah began engaging authorities of China Institute of Education and Social Development at the Beijing Normal University on possibilities for partnerships in several areas ranging from training, media restructuring and equipment for his ministry and its subsidiary institutions.

Executive Dean of China Institute of Education and Social Development, Song Shanping assured the minister of her institute’s readiness to support his agenda and requested him to develop a proposal on all areas that his ministry is seeking collaboration and partnership.

Earlier, Minister Bah paid courtesy call on the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Beijing, People’s Republic of China.

Deputy Ambassador, Saffa Woya-Rogers who doubles as Charge d’ Affaires on behalf of the Embassy expressed excitement over the minister’s visit saying: “Minister Bah was home away from home”.

He congratulated the minister on his appointment, adding that the appointment did not come as a surprise as it justifies the good works he has been doing over the years.

Deputy Ambassador described the Embassy’s staff as a very strong team that can overlap their diplomatic functions in an effort to fly high the flag of Sierra Leone.

Minister Bar expressed gratitude for what he described as the warm reception accorded him, adding that staff of the Embassy have exhibited high level of protocol as diplomats representing Sierra Leone in China.

He also expressed support for the Embassy’s work and his willingness to collaborate with the Embassy in further enhancing the bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and China.
