His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio last evening held a bilateral meeting in Brussels with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel; Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell Fontelles and European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen.

At the meeting, Sierra Leone was commended for its progressive reforms, commitment to upholding multilateralism and assured of European Union’s support bid for a seat in the UN Security Council.

It can be recalled that President Bio departed Sierra Leone for Brussels on the invitation of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

While in Brussels, he is expected to meet with other senior officials of the European Union and from Brussels, President Bio will proceed to attend the 36th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government.

In line with the itinerary of the president, is the 36th Ordinary Session of Africa Union Assembly (Head of State and Government session) and the 42nd ordinary session which will be held from today 15th – 16th and 18th – 19th February 2023 respectively in Addis Ababa.
